This Sunday, May 22, there is a garden meeting and workday, beginning at 11 am. Among the topics that will be discussed: tag sale earnings and possibly allowing for two hour shifts on weekends instead of four hour shifts. (This would divide weekend hours into two shifts of two hours each.) If you are interested in becoming a member of the Summit Street Community Garden, attend the meeting.
Thanks to all the garden volunteers and to the shoppers who made the first Summit Street Community Garden Tag Sale of 2016 a success! We raised money for the beautification of the garden, for plants, bulbs, equipment, water and other garden needs. Thankfully, the predicted rain never materialized, and there were passersby from the nearby Bayou n’ Brooklyn Festival at Jalopy and the celebration for the impending street signal at Carroll and Columbia Streets. Thanks to gardeners who donated clothing, jewelry, home goods, bakery, lemonade, tea, coffee and popcorn.
The Summit Street Community Garden Tag & Bake Sale is on Saturday, May 14, from 10 am–3 pm at the corner of Summit & Columbia streets. Come by to support the garden and peruse the goods at the tag and bake sale. There will be delicious baked goods, coffee, iced tea and popcorn, as well as toys, household items, clothes, jewelry and music for sale. All sales from the first garden fundraiser of the season go toward beautifying the garden. Check out some treats and goods from previous tag sales below!
